Another year has passed and it’s almost time for this year’s party, where there certainly shouldn’t be a shortage of glitz and glamour – on your clothes, on the New Year’s table and in the air, when thousands of fireworks are set off all across Denmark at the stroke of midnight. For the 2017 New Year’s Eve party, you mustn’t skimp on sparkle, detail, glamour and elegance – the more, the better – but you don’t need to dig your tuxedo or your most sparkly dress out of the wardrobe to have a great New Year’s Eve. We’ll guide you to a stylish New Year’s Eve party, 2017 style.
It’s the same dilemma every year. What should you wear to this year’s party, where you’ll be welcoming in the New Year with your best friends by toasting with champagne and jumping off your chairs?
Have you thought about what this year’s New Year’s outfit should be, or are you just going to wear the same shirt or sequinned dress as last year? We’ll guide you to a cool New Year’s outfit for both men and women.
New Year’s Eve for men: classic and festive
When it comes to men, women in particular like to see them wearing an elegant and festive outfit for the big New Year’s Eve party. They don’t need to dig the black-and-white tuxedo and freshly polished shoes out of the wardrobe, but they’re still welcome to wear a smart shirt or polo shirt with a pair of smart black jeans or chinos.
The New Year’s Eve party is the party of the year, and this is the time to go the extra mile with your personal style and really go all out for an elegant and sophisticated look. Remember, the New Year’s Eve party is the perfect occasion to be a true gentleman – and that naturally includes a stylish and refined look.
We’ve selected four different outfits to offer some inspiration for different styles you could go for on the big night.

Outfit 1: Classic and elegant
With this outfit, you’ll achieve a classic and elegant look that will never let you down on a night out. The dark blue chinos have a slim-fit cut, making them stylish and elegant. Paired with the light blue shirt, you’ll achieve a sharp look. The shoes we’ve chosen to go with it are simple yet smart and complement the understated, stylish outfit perfectly. Feel free to wear black or dark grey socks with the shoes, or opt for ankle socks and roll up the trouser legs slightly so that a hint of your ankle is visible.
Tip: When choosing a shirt, pick a style that suits your body shape. Many people often make the mistake of choosing a style that’s too wide, especially if they’re on the larger side. In this case, you’re better off choosing a slim-fit style – even if you’re on the larger side – as a wide-cut style will only make you look even bigger and bulkier.

Outfit 2: The sophisticated look
This suggestion for a New Year’s outfit has a slightly more relaxed feel than the previous one, yet still manages to give the wearer a sharp look thanks to the very subtle interplay between the elements. The trousers are a dark grey colour, but have a mottled finish, giving them a textured look. The polo shirt is black, but differs from the traditional polo in that it has a zip fastening at the neck instead of the usual buttons. We’ve styled this look with a pair of black shoes with white soles, which complement the overall relaxed yet refined outfit perfectly.

Outfit 3: The festive look
With this outfit, you’re guaranteed a festive look. The shirt is red with white dots and small white tigers. We’ve chosen to style this shirt with a pair of black slim-fit jeans, rather than the more formal chinos, to give the outfit a slightly more relaxed feel. The brown shoes we’ve paired with it draw the eye away slightly from the very festive shirt, so that the overall look takes centre stage, rather than the shirt stealing all the attention. This outfit is for the party-loving type who’s down-to-earth, yet still likes to dress smartly.

Outfit 4: The Modern Look
This outfit suggestion for the biggest party of the year is for the modern man who likes to stand out from the crowd whilst breaking with the norm that you have to wear smart trousers, a freshly ironed shirt and shiny shoes on this night. You can easily make it more modern and stylish, whilst still feeling like you’re part of the party. If you don’t want it to be too smart and elegant, and you’re more of a trainers sort who likes to break the rules, then this look is a great choice.
If you’re the more traditional sort, a pair of smart black trousers with a shirt is the right choice; but if you’re the type who likes to experiment, go against the norm and refuses to look like everyone else, then steer clear of the traditional trousers/shirt look and choose something different and festive that’ll make you stand out from the crowd.
New Year’s Eve for the girls: glitter, dresses and high heels galore
We’d love to see women – and men in particular – wearing a New Year’s outfit that’s smart, sexy and makes you look marvellous. Remember, for the New Year’s Eve party, you certainly shouldn’t skimp on the spectacular – like glitter and sparkle; the highest heels you own are never too high, and the sexiest dress you can find is never too much. For the New Year’s Eve party, it’s all about going all out, but do remember that ‘less is more’ – you can quickly end up looking like a circus princess if you go overboard with the glitter.
We’ve picked out four different outfits that are our suggestions for what to wear to the New Year’s Eve party. But bear in mind that the possibilities are endless, and the individual pieces presented below can easily be mixed and matched to create even more New Year’s Eve looks.

Outfit 1: The traditional one
This dress is our most traditional choice for a New Year’s Eve dress, as it simply exudes everything associated with New Year’s Eve: elegant, festive and full of glitter. Style it with your finest stilettos in almost any colour. Why not add a pair of red stilettos for a bold look? We’ve chosen to pair this short faux-fur jacket with the dress, creating a lovely contrast to the very light and delicate fabric the dress is made of. So throw the jacket on when you head out at midnight with your champagne glass to watch the fireworks lighting up the sky. The pretty light pink handbag with gold detailing adds the finishing touch to this outfit.

Outfit 2: The Elegant Look
This suggestion for a New Year’s Eve outfit consists of two separate pieces, but they go together so well that you’d think they were a set. The pleated skirt is slightly longer than knee-length and looks lovely with a pair of very high stilettos, which will make your legs look a metre long. The top is made from a lightweight fabric and is covered in glitter, which is practically a must for a New Year’s Eve party. Style it with the skirt by tucking the bottom part of the top under the elasticated waistband of the skirt, so the top still flares out slightly. Perfect for anyone who wants a smart and festive, yet slightly different outfit that isn’t just another New Year’s Eve dress with glitter. Style the outfit with this red bag to add the perfect finishing touch.

Outfit 3: The festive look
If you’re not really into New Year’s dresses and actually feel more comfortable in a pair of trousers, then this black jumpsuit with lace details is a great choice for you. Style it with a pair of your finest stilettos – a pair in a bold colour wouldn’t be a bad choice. Although black is, of course, a classic and you can never go wrong with it, it can also easily fade into the background – especially at a New Year’s Eve party, where many people like to go the extra mile with their colourful outfits. We’ve therefore chosen to style this red faux fur coat with

Outfit 4: The daring look
These loose-fitting black trousers are absolutely perfect with a pair of high heels – your legs will look miles long. The leopard-print blouse is a slightly different take on a top for the New Year’s Eve party, but if you’re into patterned and colourful clothes, this one’s definitely a hit. Style this outfit with a black crossover bag with gold detailing, which complements the brown tones of the blouse beautifully. If you think this outfit lacks a bit of colour, why not style it with a pair of your red high heels? And if you top it off with some red lipstick, you’re guaranteed a sizzling look that’s hard to resist at the New Year’s Eve party.
